Terms of Use & Disclaimer

Last updated: 2026-07-15

Use Stargaze Atlas at your own risk: every darkness rating is a satellite-radiance proxy for general planning — not a survey-grade sky-brightness measurement — and the live "tonight" conditions are third-party forecasts that can change. Conditions, forecasts, and ratings can be wrong or out of date. Always check current local weather before travelling to a dark-sky site, and respect private property and access rules wherever you observe. Data is provided "as is" without warranty of accuracy or fitness for a particular purpose. Questions: [email protected].

Ratings are a proxy for planning

Every darkness rating on Stargaze Atlas is estimated from satellite night-lights — a proxy for sky darkness, not a survey-grade sky-brightness measurement, and measured at the town center rather than the surrounding countryside. Use it to plan, not as a guarantee of what any specific spot's sky looks like.

Live conditions are third-party forecasts

Tonight's Moon, cloud cover, and aurora figures combine our own astronomical calculations with live third-party forecasts (NOAA SWPC and Open-Meteo). Forecasts change and can be wrong. Always check current local weather before travelling to observe.

Travel and access are your responsibility

  • Dark-sky sites are often remote — plan for weather, terrain, and no cell service.
  • Respect private property, park hours, and access rules wherever you observe; this site does not grant or imply any right of access.
  • Never rely on this site for navigation or safety decisions.

No warranty

Data is provided "as is" without warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Stargaze Atlas is not liable for any loss or inconvenience arising from use of the site.
