Corrections come first
If a town's darkness rating or location looks wrong, tell us — corrections are the priority. We check every report against the primary VIIRS and GeoNames sources before changing anything, and a wrong rating usually means the satellite reading was sampled just outside the built-up area.

The underlying sources are openly licensed (see the methodology page). For questions about reusing the data or the method, email is the best way to reach the project.
